I am fascinated by capturing the moments of stillness, sometimes prolonged, in which we are physically passive but deep in thought.

Sue has been working as a sculptor since 1993. She is based in Assen, in Holland.
Working directly from the figure, her pieces are beautifully observed and sensitive studies, initially worked in wax, and then cast in bronze by a lost wax process. They are generally produced in editions of seven by the foundry attached to Groningen museum. Each piece within the edition is finished and signed by hand prior to casting.
For the past two years Sue has worked within a group of sculptors, regularly sharing a model and studio space. This has been a very productive working atmosphere for her, and has led to an increasingly complex and ambitious use of the figure in her work.
